Spiritual Direction Supervision & Consultation
During my time with Scott, I have leaned into the possibility of yes. He holds up a mirror to remind me of my sacred self in moments when my recognition grows dim. I continue to be grateful for choosing the blessing of spiritual direction with Scott. - Mara
Is this for you?
Are you a spiritual director who feels that you could use a boost in your practice? Do you feel like you are on the verge of growth or a new direction but aren’t sure how to move forward? Or perhaps you simply value a tailored process for ongoing support and professional development.
If so I’d love to work with you. Supporting and empowering spiritual directors and ministers is my passion and the cornerstone of my professional life. I’ve been doing various forms of spiritual mentoring for over 30 years, with over 500 individuals, and over 4600 hours of supervising spiritual work.
My approach helps you uncover and utilize your unique strengths as a spiritual director. I always believe there “more” that is waiting for you and me as we do this work—those hidden treasures and untapped gifts that are ready to be discovered.
Through supervision or consultation, my goal is to help you move through stuck places, reinforce your strengths, and activate new possibilities in your work.
How I will work with you?
My style is inquisitive, direct, non-judgmental, and compassionate. Along with my certificate in spiritual direction, I have training in spiritual counseling, coaching, leadership, and the Enneagram. I draw on these resources to tailor our sessions to your specific goals and aspirations as a spiritual director.
I believe presence is the heart of spiritual guidance. Together, we’ll cultivate your capacity for deep presence with clients, so you can help them access greater presence in their own lives.
We’ll explore how your mind, body, emotions, and intuitions are potent pathways for guidance and for opening to Divine Presence. We’ll also listen together for the unique ways the Divine is speaking to and working through you.
I know firsthand the impact of supervision. There was a time when my own spiritual direction practice felt dull. I felt stuck and uninspired. After seeking supervision, I experienced a big shift—my work with clients became vibrant again. That small investment in myself transformed my practice and continues to shape my work today.
What is spiritual direction supervision & consulting?
Supervision and consulting share much in common, but each has a distinct focus.
Supervision is an ongoing partnership centered on your client work. While we’ll also discuss your overall practice, the primary emphasis is on deepening and refining your work with those you serve.
Consulting is typically a shorter-term engagement focused on your practice as a whole. Though client work is often integrated in our conversation, the main emphasis is on challenges you’re facing and how you might take your practice to the next level.
In both approaches, I begin with the conviction that you already possess the wisdom and skills needed for transformation. My role is to help you access and strengthen those capacities, activate your deep knowing, and support you in discovering new possibilities within yourself and your practice.
Individual Supervision & Consulting
Scott has an uncanny ability to get at the root of the issue. His years of experience working with hospital patients, chaplains, seminarians, students, and clients naturally shines through in his thoughtful questions, observations and comments. I often seek Scott’s wise counsel to help resolve my concerns. - Helen
Individual sessions provide us with concentrated time to focus on enhancing your skills as well as the practical side of your spiritual direction practice or business (a key aspect that is often overlooked in spiritual direction supervision!).
The fee for a 55 minute supervision session is $150.
I request payment for last-minute cancellations.
Group Supervision & Coaching
I approach group supervision with the same mindset and approach that I bring to individual supervision. Whereas groups lack the concentrated focus of individual sessions, they add the richness of group support, collegiality, and a wider base of perspectives.
It’s not just Scott’s wisdom or skill as a spiritual director that is exceptional, but also his presence. Scott’s grace, love and acceptance have been powerful and profoundly healing for me. His guidance has a way of helping me to get in touch with my own inner teacher within and always inspires me be who I am and live out my truth with hope. Thanks Scott. - Bill
