Life often feels like it’s coming at us at full volume — news buzzing, phones pinging, responsibilities piling up. The outer world keeps turning the noise up, tapping our fears, competing for our attention, and pulling us into constant distraction.
And then there is our inner world with its inner noise — the false beliefs running in the background of our minds: “I’m not enough.” “I have to do it all myself.” “If I slow down, I’ll fall behind.” More noise. More fear. More distraction.
Changing the Channel
Spiritual practices — prayer, meditation, contemplative reading, breathwork — help us change the channel. They don’t pull us away from life; they help us live it more intentionally. They lower the noise of the outside world so the subtle, steady voice of our inner knowing can arise in our awareness.
In the stillness of prayer or meditation, the static of daily life begins to fade, making space for a deep inner clarity. Our intuition — that wise inner compass gifted by the Divine — is always present. Yet, like a whisper in a crowded room, it can be hard to hear. Spiritual practice turns down the chatter and opens our inner ears to the voice of the soul. The voice that has been there all along.
From Distortion to Alignment
As the noise quiets, the distortions that block our presence give way to the peace, power, and purpose that flow when we are aligned with our sacred life. We begin to see more clearly, act more consciously, and trust more deeply.
This shift doesn’t require hours a day. Even a few moments of silence, a slow, intentional breath, or heartfelt prayer can turn down the world’s volume and turn up the clarity within.
Over time, we learn move through life with more ease, presence, and trust. The outside world may stay loud, but we know how to reach for that sacred volume knob — and how to listen to the wisdom and love that never stops speaking.
A Forthcoming Invitation: Living the Sacred Life Community
We all know that it’s much easier to stay rooted in our sacred life when we are in conversation with a caring and wise community. I’m excited to be creating an online space with multiple ways to connect and grow together — a place to support each other in tuning down the noise and tuning in to Spirit.
This Living the Sacred Life Community will be a part of collective of spiritual communities that are in the process of forming under a common umbrella in an online platform. I’m going to be launching this in the fall, and I’ll keep you posted as it unfolds.
